- PTY means Tocumen
- PAC means Marcos A. Gelabert airport
- Metro to Albrook still requires an airport transfer
Check which Albrook you need
Tocumen International Airport is PTY. Marcos A. Gelabert airport in Albrook is PAC. Albrook also names a Metro station and a major bus terminal. If you are catching a domestic flight, save the airport pin and show the full airport name to the driver. “Albrook” alone is not precise enough.
Read the actual onward ticket before choosing transport. If the flight departs from Tocumen, a journey to Albrook is unnecessary. If it departs from PAC, you are making a landside transfer between airports. That involves clearing entry formalities, collecting luggage when required and meeting the domestic carrier’s check-in deadline. A search engine’s connection suggestion does not create protection between separate tickets.
| Place | What it is | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Tocumen / PTY | International airport | The airport printed as PTY on your ticket |
| Marcos A. Gelabert / PAC | Airport in Albrook | Domestic flight check-in when the ticket says PAC |
| Albrook Metro and bus terminal | Public-transport interchange | A bus departure or the public-transport part of a longer transfer |
A direct road transfer reduces the number of changes
If the connection is the main purpose of the journey, compare a prearranged vehicle or a currently available authorized airport transport option to the exact PAC entrance. Give the provider your arrival terminal, flight details, luggage and any child-seat or access requirement. Confirm how the driver will contact you, what waiting is included and what happens if immigration takes longer than expected.
Do not treat a quoted driving time as the connection time. Add the time before you meet the vehicle and the time after it drops you off. Traffic, entry procedures and baggage delivery vary. We do not publish a universal minimum connection or a fixed road fare: those need current booking conditions and the details of your flights.
The Metro option still has a final airport leg
The Metro operator’s airport-branch guide shows the route through Corredor Sur on Line 2 and San Miguelito for the Line 1 connection. To reach Albrook from the airport, follow the airport branch to Corredor Sur, change toward San Miguelito, then take Line 1 toward Albrook. Follow current station signs and check service information on the day.
The Albrook stop is not the domestic airport check-in hall. Arrange a separate final road transfer to Marcos A. Gelabert and include it in the cost and time comparison. This option involves walking and changes with luggage. Check current operating hours, payment rules and your access needs directly with Metro; the route guide does not establish those conditions for your arrival time.
Use an overnight stay when the margin is fragile
Write the domestic check-in deadline at the top of the plan, then work backwards through the transfer, baggage collection and entry procedures. Ask the airline what happens if the separate international arrival is delayed. If one uncertainty makes the plan depend on everything going right, compare an overnight stay in the city with the cost of replacing the domestic booking.
Pack the onward ticket and the correct airport address where you can reach them without mobile data. Recheck the airport on the return flight too. Our recommendation to consider a city night is a buffer strategy, not a claim that a particular number of hours guarantees the connection. Keep a contingency that you can actually use if the first flight arrives late.
